In early 1988, PLAYMATES<\/strong> began producing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) action figure collection. This first collection, known today as \u201cTMNT vintage\u201d<\/strong>, remained in production until 1997, when the company launched a new line based on the then-recent animated series.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

As a result, we are looking at a collection that spanned nearly ten years, during which hundreds of different figures, vehicles, and playsets were produced.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

Because this collection consists of so many items, we have decided to organize the listings into sections. This section features what we might call the main line<\/strong>, consisting of basic figures based primarily on the animated series, as well as on the movies and video games.<\/p>\n\n

<\/p>\n\n

The huge success of this collection began right from the start, in 1988, coinciding with the premiere of the animated series and the release of the first ten figures in the line. These figures undoubtedly represent the characters best known and most beloved by fans.<\/p>\n\n
