About the Franchise:

Saint Seiya, known in the Spanish-speaking world as Los Caballeros del Zodiaco, is a manga series written and illustrated by Masami Kurumada. It was published in the 1980s by the Japanese magazine Shūkan Shōnen Jump.

The series focuses on a group of young warriors called “knights” (or “saints”), whose main protagonist is Seiya (a knight wearing the armor of Pegasus). These warriors fight on the side of the Greek goddess Athena reincarnated as the human Saori Kido to protect humanity from the forces of evil that want to dominate the Earth. For his battles, each knight uses his inner energy linked to the universe (the “cosmos”), his special fighting techniques, and his armor (originally called “cloth”), all inspired by each of the 88 constellations.

Due to the great success of the manga, a 114-episode anime series was also made, followed by several OVAs and movies. In addition to several official prequels and sequels to the original story.

Both the original manga and the anime adaptation were very successful in Japan, as well as in European countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and most Latin American countries. However, the anime was not translated into English until its arrival in the United States in 2003.

In a 2005 TV Asahi online ranking of the 100 best anime ever made in Japan, Saint Seiya ranked number 11.

Obviously, like any successful series, The Knights of the Zodiac had several lines of collectible figures, a marvel for the children of the time. Many of their lines of figures stand out for using metallic pieces for the armor (or “Cloth”) and without a doubt they are a small jewel for the collector.
