Curiosities about the toy and variants

The Robin figure is part of the first wave of figures in the Super Powers collection produced by toy manufacturer KENNER between 1984 and 1986.

As it was one of the first wave of figures, it was reissued in subsequent years, although the first edition with the "12-back" cardboard box is the most sought after by collectors. This box contains an image of the first twelve figures in the collection on the back.

Like the other figures in the Super Powers line, the Robin figure comes with an "action feature." When you squeeze the legs, the figure's right arm moves, simulating a karate chop.

Character

Robin is a superhero who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was originally created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger, and Jerry Robinson to serve as the junior counterpart and sidekick to the superhero Batman.

The first incarnation of the character, Dick Grayson, debuted in Detective Comics #38 (April 1940). Conceived as a way to attract young readers, Robin received overwhelmingly positive critical reception, doubling the sales of Batman titles.

He made regular appearances in Batman-related comics and other DC Comics publications from 1940 to the early 1980s, until the character shed the Robin identity and became the independent superhero Nightwing.
