The Desaad figure is part of the second wave of figures in the Super Powers collection produced by toy manufacturer KENNER between 1984 and 1986.
This figure was distributed in several countries, so there are some differences in the blister packs. Some editions included a comic book or different offers, such as the Clark Kent figure or Superman's cape.
Like the other figures in the collection, the Desaad figure had an "Action Feature" whereby when you squeezed his legs, his arms would rise.
Desaad is a supervillain who appears in books published by DC Comics. He is one of Darkseid's followers from the planet Apokolips in Jack Kirby's Fourth World meta-series.
As Desaad is Darkseid's master torturer, his name references the Marquis de Sade. At one point, Desaad had an assistant named Justeen, a reference to De Sade's novel Justine, although she bore little resemblance to the main character.
