This figure is part of the first wave of the “Spider-Man Animated Series” collection, created by TOYBIZ toy company. This collection recreated the characters from the popular 90’s animated series Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
The figures were distributed and sold in several countries, so we will be able to find the “carded” figures with cardboards in different languages.
Hobgoblin is a supervillain identity in Marvel Comics, related to Spider-Man, and was first introduced in “The Amazing Spider-Man” #238 in 1983, created by Roger Stern and John Romita Jr.
The first Hobgoblin is Roderick Kingsley, a fashion entrepreneur who becomes the villain by taking on the mantle of the Green Goblin. Kingsley finds the equipment of the original Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, and uses it to develop his own high-tech suit and equipment, including a variety of weapons and a glider, allowing him to perform criminal acts and confront Spider-Man.
Unlike Norman Osborn, who acts driven by madness and a desire for mayhem, Roderick Kingsley is a more calculating and pragmatic villain, using his abilities to gain power and wealth. The Hobgoblin character has had several successors and replacements over the years.
