This figure is part of the third wave of the “Spider-Man Animated Series” collection, created by toymaker TOYBIZ. This collection recreated the characters from the popular 90’s animated series Spider-Man: The Animated Series.
The figures were distributed and sold in several countries, so we will be able to find the “carded” figures with cardboards in different languages.
Scorpion, whose real name is Mac Gargan, is a classic villain of the Marvel universe, and one of Spider-Man‘s most recurring enemies. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, he made his first appearance in “The Amazing Spider-Man” #19 in 1964.
Gargan was a private detective hired by J. Jonah Jameson, the editor of the Daily Bugle, to discover Spider-Man’s identity. However, Jameson funds an experiment that fuses Gargan with a special scorpion-inspired suit, hoping to create a being capable of defeating Spider-Man.
The experiment gives Gargan superhuman strength, agility and a suit with a highly powerful and versatile mechanical tail, capable of throwing acid, electricity, and using brute force in combat. However, the process also affects his mind, making him increasingly unstable and obsessed with revenge.
