The Cobra (v1) figure, often referred to as the Cobra Soldier or Cobra Enemy, is the quintessential grunt that launched the evil organization in 1982. Released as part of Hasbro's Series One, this original sculpt features the iconic straight-arms, a hallmark of the "Original Sixteen" figures before the 1983 articulation update.
Beyond its individual carded release, it was also available in late 1982 as part of the Sears exclusive Cobra Missile Command Headquarters playset.
Variants:
The Cobra (v1) trooper underwent a significant evolution in 1983, commonly referred to as v1.5. This update replaced the straight-arms with swivel-arm articulation, updated the date stamp to "82-83," and most notably, changed the eye color to black.
Significant variations also exist within exclusive sets. In the JC Penney three-pack, one Cobra soldier was uniquely armed with Rock 'n Roll’s machine gun and bipod, while another featured either the thin-handle or dark green version of Zap’s bazooka.
