Curiosities about the toy and variants

The Aquaman figure is part of the first wave of figures in the Super Powers collection produced by toy manufacturer KENNER between 1984 and 1986.

As it was one of the first wave of figures, it was reissued in subsequent years, although the first edition with the "12-back" cardboard box is the most sought after by collectors. This box contains an image of the first twelve figures in the collection on the back.

Like the other figures in the Super Powers line, the Aquaman figure comes with an "action feature." In this case, when you squeeze the figure's arms, its legs move as if it were swimming. A trident and a comic book were included with the figure.

Character

Aquaman is a superhero with aquatic powers who appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. Created by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, the character debuted in More Fun Comics #73 (November 1941).

Aquaman then starred in several volumes of a solo comic book series. During the superhero revival of the late 1950s and 1960s, he was a founding member of the Justice League.

In the Modern Age of the 1990s, writers took the character of Aquaman more seriously, with stories depicting the weight of his role as king of Atlantis.
