The MISSILE LAUNCHER PAC/RAT, a significant accessory for any G.I. Joe vintage collection, first appeared in U.S. toy stores in 1983. This mobile missile launcher was also available for retail purchase in 1984 and was subsequently discontinued in 1985.
Furthermore, this action figure accessory was part of a set of three PAC/RAT units offered directly from Hasbro via mail-away promotions from 1985 until 1992.
Collectors should note that some mail-in versions of the MISSILE LAUNCHER PAC/RAT exhibit a distinct darker shade of green plastic molding, differentiating them from earlier releases.
Internationally, this G.I. Joe action figure accessory was distributed by Plastirama in Argentina in 1986 under the designation Robot Lanza-Misiles.
In the same year, Estrela Toys released it in Brazil as the Robô-Lança-Mísseis.
