The Skystriker [XP-14F] combat jet action figure vehicle first debuted in U.S. toy stores in 1983. This vintage G.I. Joe collection piece was initially boxed and included the pilot action figure, Ace (v1).
It remained available for purchase in 1984 and 1985 before its discontinuation in 1986.
There are documented variations for the Skystriker [XP-14F]. The nose gun assembly can be found with or without a grid pattern positioned behind the gun.
Additionally, some releases of this classic action figure vehicle included two parachutes, while others contained only one, a difference that was typically reflected in the packaging language.
The Skystriker saw international distribution, leading to regional packaging and decal differences.
In the United Kingdom and Europe during the late 1980s, initial releases featured simplified decals, while subsequent versions utilized decals identical to the U.S. release, with G.I. Joe branding replaced by Action Force insignia.
Brazil's Estrela Toys released the vehicle in 1986 as the "Super Caça-Bombardeiro."
Takara also distributed the Skystriker in Japan in 1986.
Later, in the 1990s, Funskool India released a version with a slightly darker gray plastic and red missiles, adding to the collectible variations of this iconic G.I. Joe action figure vehicle.
