Serpentor (v1) is a vintage G.I. Joe action figure, first introduced in 1986 as part of the fifth series. This initial release was exclusively bundled with the Air Chariot vehicle.
Later, this action figure was re-released through Hasbro Direct as a mail-in offer during 1990, 1992, and 1993. The figure typically includes a snake accessory.
Several production variations exist for the Serpentor (v1) action figure. The snake accessory, for instance, appeared in multiple color schemes, including opaque gold (the most prevalent), translucent brown, translucent green, and combinations thereof. Translucent brown snakes often exhibit greater transparency and a less metallic finish; some samples may even appear green when exposed to light.
Furthermore, some Serpentor figures feature a painted yellow neck, while others do not.
The mail-in version of this collectible figure presents distinct characteristics: a "MADE IN CHINA" date stamp, contrasting with the retail version's "MADE IN HONG KONG," a separated chin, and curled chest tails.
The yellow paint on mail-in figures is also a lighter shade compared to the retail release. Collectors should note that the gold plastic used in these mail-in versions tends to become very brittle over time, increasing its susceptibility to breakage.
