Character
Hobgoblin is a supervillain identity in Marvel Comics, related to Spider-Man, and was first introduced in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #238 in 1983, created by Roger Stern and John Romita Jr.
The first Hobgoblin is Roderick Kingsley, a fashion entrepreneur who becomes the villain by taking on the mantle of the Green Goblin. Kingsley finds the equipment of the original Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, and uses it to develop his own high-tech suit and equipment, including a variety of weapons and a glider, allowing him to carry out criminal acts and confront Spider-Man.
Unlike Norman Osborn, who acts out of madness and a desire for chaos, Roderick Kingsley is a more calculating and pragmatic villain, using his skills to gain power and wealth. The Hobgoblin character has had several successors and replacements over the years.
