Curiosities about the toy and variants

This figure is part of the second wave of the "Spider-Man Animated Series" collection created by toy manufacturer TOYBIZ. This collection recreated the characters from the popular 1990s animated series Spider-Man: The Animated Series.

The figures were distributed and sold in several countries, so we can find "carded" figures with cards in different languages.

There are two known versions of this figure, one with a black T-shirt and one with a red T-shirt.

Character

Lizard, whose real name is Dr. Curt Connors, is a tragic villain from the Marvel universe, particularly known as an enemy of Spider-Man. Created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, he made his first appearance in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #6 in 1963.

Curt Connors is a brilliant scientist specializing in biology who lost his arm during military service. Desperate to regenerate it, Connors develops a serum based on lizard DNA, known for its ability to regenerate limbs. Although the serum is initially successful, it also has a disastrous side effect: it transforms Connors into a monstrous reptilian being known as the Lizard.

As the Lizard, Connors retains his intellect but is dominated by aggressive reptilian instincts, leading him to confront Spider-Man on several occasions. Although Spider-Man often has to fight the Lizard, he also tries to help Curt Connors return to his human form, as he sees him as a good man trapped by his own creation.
