Character

Baron Zemo is the name of two Marvel Comics supervillains, both known for being recurring adversaries of Captain America and the Avengers. The first Baron Zemo, Heinrich Zemo, was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, debuting in "The Avengers" #4 in 1964.

Heinrich was a Nazi scientist and one of Captain America's most dangerous enemies during World War II, responsible for many atrocities and the incident that resulted in the apparent death of Bucky Barnes and the freezing of Steve Rogers. Heinrich Zemo is known for his distinctive purple mask, which became permanently attached to his face due to an accident involving Adhesive X, one of his inventions.

The second Baron Zemo, Helmut Zemo, is Heinrich's son and was created by Roy Thomas, Tony Isabella, and Sal Buscema, appearing for the first time in "Captain America" #168 in 1973.

Helmut inherits his hatred for Captain America and the Avengers, seeking revenge for his father's death. Like his father, Helmut is a tactical and scientific genius, and has led several groups of villains, including the Masters of Evil and the Thunderbolts.
