This small PVC figure is one of the first released within the popular Pokemon franchise. Although the collection was originally called “Monster Collection” or “Moncolle” for short, today it is often referred to simply as “Pokemon Tomy”.

It was marketed in different countries and distributed by brands such as “Auldey” or “Hasbro”, so it is not strange to find it in different types of packaging or packs.

The original figures continue to be highly sought after by collectors around the world. However, due to the huge international success of Pokemon in the late 90’s, numerous imitations and bootlegs of this collection appeared, making it even more special to find authentic copies in good condition.

Korefest Pack

This piece, originally, could only be obtained in Japan through an exclusive sale pack at the CoroCoro Festival, an event organized by the publishing house Shogakukan to promote their franchises and products linked to the CoroCoro Comic magazine. The set included Oddish and Magikarp figures and, today, keeping it in its original packaging makes it a highly coveted item by collectors.

However, these same figures were later produced by Hasbro and reissued in other packaging, such as the Black Series, which makes the loose figures less valuable.

To distinguish the original figures from fakes, carefully examine the photos.

Here are some recommendations that may be useful for this purpose:

• Look at the quality of the sculpture and painting.
• Look for the mark: “Tomy”, “Auldey” or “C.G.T.S.J.” inscribed on the figure.
