This small PVC figure is one of the first released within the popular Pokémon franchise. Although the collection was originally called "Monster Collection" or "Moncolle" for short, today it is usually known simply as "Pokémon Tomy."
It was marketed in different countries and distributed by brands such as "Auldey" or "Hasbro," so it is not unusual to find it in various types of packaging or packs.
The original figures continue to be highly sought after by collectors around the world. However, due to the enormous international success of Pokémon in the late 1990s, numerous imitations and bootlegs of this collection appeared, making it even more special to find authentic examples in good condition.
This piece, originally, could only be obtained in Japan through an exclusive sale pack at the CoroCoro Festival, an event organized by the publishing house Shogakukan to promote their franchises and products linked to the CoroCoro Comic magazine. The set included Oddish and Magikarp figures and, today, keeping it in its original packaging makes it a highly coveted item by collectors.
However, these same figures were later produced by Hasbro and reissued in other packaging, such as the Black Series, which makes the loose figures less valuable.
