Curiosities about the toy and variants

Blades or Streex was one of five action figures released as part of the "Hand Sharks" collection created by Mattel in 1994. Two versions of this figure were produced, with slight changes to the packaging (the figure itself is identical): one features a more enclosed box with a front panel, while the other has a more open and sturdy box.

We believe MATTEL decided to release the second box design because, in the first version, the flapping cardboard parts bent very easily.

An interesting fact is that in this puppet, the first edition was released under the name Blades and the second under the name Streex; something similar happened with the vintage "Street Sharks" collection, as this character also changed names starting with the second wave.

Character

Before the mutation, Bobby was your typical handsome, womanizing guy who loved extreme sports and playing the drums; after the mutation, he transforms into a tiger shark. In the series, the character is named Streex, but in this first version of the figure, they named him Blades, since he rides rollerblades.
