Jab was one of five puppets released as part of the "Hand Sharks" collection created by MATTEL in 1994. Two versions of this figure were produced, with slight changes to the box (the figure itself is the same): one features a more enclosed box with a front panel, and the other a more open and sturdy box.
We believe MATTEL decided to release the second box design because, in the first one, the flapping cardboard parts bent very easily.
Jab is the laziest of the sharks; he loves boxing and has a knack for mechanics. When he transforms into a shark, he becomes a hammerhead shark and can knock anything down with his headbutts.
