Curiosities about the toy and variants

As his name suggests, Mantaman is a manta ray/human hybrid. He closely resembles the Street Sharks in terms of proportions. His arms feature a large wing-like membrane that extends from his wrists to his stomach, and he has two antenna-like protrusions on the top of his head.

Despite his name, he also possesses the DNA of the alien that attacked the space station where he was located. Some say this alien could be Evil Draxx, but there is no confirmation of this in either the animated series or the comics.

This figure was re-released as part of the Mega Heroes series, a wave distributed in 1996 where the packaging was changed from the cardboard box used up until then to the typical blister pack. In my opinion, this was a mistake on MATTEL’s part, since the cardboard box was what set this toy line apart from others. So, while this figure comes in two different types of packaging, the figure itself remains the same.
