Mumm-ra Momia was the gift of LJN’s “Free Mumm-Ra” promotion. Many of the figures launched since 1986 included this promotion, where the cartons of the figures had a cutout that gave points, if you got 6 points and sent them to the address provided by LJN they sent you home for free this figure of Mumm-ra in its mummy version. The test purchases of the normal figures awarded 2 points and the vehicles 4 points, so with any combination of points you could get this figure. Later, with the “Playset” Mumm-Ra’s Tomb Fortress this figure was also included.

Unlike other collections such as MOTU, Saint Seiya or Street Sharks where the “Mail-Away” figures are the most expensive and difficult to obtain pieces of the collection, in this case the figure of Mumm-ra Mummy is relatively cheap and easy to get, this may be due to the fact that this promotion lasted for a long time and was not something exclusive to one country, besides that later this figure was included in a Playset.

Character

Mumm-ra is the main antagonist of the series and the most powerful enemy of the ThunderCats. Infernal priest, self-proclaimed “the one who does not die” or “the immortal”, he has sorcerer powers and a seemingly eternal life. However, he is nothing more than a servant of the Ancient Spirits of Evil, who provide him with their enormous powers and immortality to continue in his quest to extend his dominions throughout the Third Planet.
