Tongue-a-Saurus is a giant amphibious creature that lives in the River of Despair. With enormous claws and even bigger teeth, Tongue-a-Saurus is a beast that the residents of the Third Planet fear and avoid.
For some reason, this figure was produced in smaller quantities than others and is quite rare, making it a very expensive and hard-to-find item.
While most of the figures and vehicles produced by LJN were based on their counterparts from the cartoon series, for Tongue-a-Saurus, it was the exact opposite. The idea for the toy was conceived by LJN’s designers. At the time, the designers were always looking for some kind of interesting “action” or “gimmick” they could incorporate into the toys to make them more unique and increase their appeal.
One of the designers suggested the “prehensile tongue” as a gimmick, and Tongue-a-Saurus was ultimately created around that gimmick. After the figure was produced, it was decided to add the monster to the series, although the colors weren’t exactly the same.
