Tongue-A-Saurus

Tongue-a-Saurus is a giant amphibious creature that lives in the River of Despair. With huge claws and even bigger teeth, Tongue-a-Saurus is a beast that Third Planet residents fear and avoid.

For some reason this figure was produced in smaller numbers than others and is quite scarce, this makes it a very expensive piece and difficult to see.

While most of the figures and vehicles produced by LJN were based on their counterparts in the cartoon series, for Tongue-A-Saurus it was the opposite. The idea of the toy was conceived by the designers of LJN. Designers at the time were always looking for some kind of interesting “action” or “gimmick” that they could incorporate into the toys to make them more unique and increase their appeal.

One of the designers suggested the “prehensile tongue” as a gimmick and it was finally created Tongue-a-Saurus around that trick. After the production of the figure, it was decided to add the monster in the series, although the colors were not exactly the same.
