Sea Panic is part of the second wave of the Laser Beasts collection, also known as Mid-12 (numbered #89 through #100). This series was distributed in various international markets, such as Canada, Europe, and Japan, with some differences between them.
This figure belongs to the group known as Shield Battlers. Unlike the rest of the Battle Beasts, which include only a weapon, these 12 figures are characterized by an additional defensive accessory: a Coat of Arms. Each shield, like its laser weapon, features a unique design inspired by the corresponding animal.
In addition to the shield, in some cases a special vehicle is also included to which the shield can be attached; when this occurs, the set is known as a Battle Charger.
Depending on the distribution market, the packaging may vary, and the figures can be found in a box (in Japan) or in a blister pack (in Europe and Canada).
The version of this figure that includes the shield and sled is exclusive to the Hasbro blister pack; in Japan, Takara sold this figure with only the weapon.
