Character

Robin is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character was originally created by Bob Kane, Bill Finger and Jerry Robinson, to serve as a junior counterpart and sidekick to the superhero Batman.

The first incarnation of the character, Dick Grayson, debuted in Detective Comics #38 (April 1940). Conceived as a way to attract younger readers, Robin received an overwhelmingly positive critical reception, doubling the sales of the Batman.

He made regular appearances in comic strips related to Batman and other publications of DC Comics from the 1940s to the early 1980s, until the character dropped the identity of Robin and became the independent superhero Nightwing.
