The CLUTCH (v1) action figure was introduced in 1982 as part of the inaugural G.I. Joe series.
This vintage figure was initially available exclusively alongside the G.I. Joe Attack Vehicle (VAMP).
Consistent with other early releases from this period, the CLUTCH (v1) figure featured a "straight arms" sculpt, a defining characteristic for collectors of the original line.
Early production runs of the CLUTCH (v1) figure exhibited minor sculpt differences, specifically regarding the thickness of the thumbs (thick or thin).
A significant re-release occurred in 1983, which introduced several construction updates. These modifications included the replacement of the original straight arms with bicep swivel articulation, a more streamlined waist-piece, and an updated date stamp from "1982" to "82-83."
Due to these notable changes in the figure's construction, this updated version is often referred to by collectors as v1.5.
