The FLAK (Field Light Attack Cannon) was first introduced as a boxed G.I. Joe action figure accessory in U.S. retail stores in 1982.
This vintage piece for any G.I. Joe collection remained available through 1983 before its domestic discontinuation in 1984.
Collectors could also acquire the FLAK via Hasbro Direct mail-away offers from 1985 until 1990.
Internationally, the FLAK saw different distributions. In Europe during the early 1980s, it was re-released with a distinct dark green and black color scheme under the Action Force FLAK designation.
Funskool also distributed the FLAK in India. As with many international G.I. Joe releases, packaging designs and languages varied by region due to local distribution requirements.
