Short-Fuze (v1) is the G.I. Joe team’s original mortar specialist and one of the most technical members of Hasbro’s Series One, released in 1982. As part of the "Original Sixteen" founding figures, this version features the iconic straight-arm sculpt of the initial production run.
At the classic 3 3/4" scale, this figure represents the essential heavy artillery support during the team's early missions against Cobra, standing as a cornerstone for any vintage G.I. Joe collector.
Variants:
Short-Fuze (v1) is well-known for its numerous variations, particularly regarding its Filecards, which feature three different names: Eric W. Freistadt, Mark W. Brenstan, or Mark W. Freistadt. Following the line's evolution, the 1983 v1.5 update introduced swivel-arm articulation, a slimmer waist-piece, and an updated "82-83" date stamp.
Accessory variations are also crucial: the initial 1982 mortar featured a closed handle loop, later replaced by an open, thin-handled version, while the v1.5 release came with a thick-handled mortar. Additionally, backpack pegs differ between years, leading to a loose fit when using a 1982 backpack on a 1983 figure.
