VAMP

The G.I. Joe VAMP (Multi-Purpose Attack Vehicle) is a notable vintage action figure vehicle in the G.I. Joe collection, first released in U.S. toy stores in 1982. This initial boxed version included the straight-arm variant of its driver, Clutch (v1).

In 1983, the VAMP was re-released with an updated action figure, featuring the swivel-arm battle grip version of Clutch (v1.5), a change reflected on the front of the packaging.

Production of the VAMP was discontinued in 1984. That same year, the VAMP was also offered in a special boxed set alongside the HAL Artillery Laser, exclusively sold through Sears.

Variations

Certain versions of the VAMP featured a distinct chassis design, identifiable by a shovel molded directly onto the hood.

This specific mold is widely associated with the Sears boxed sets that included the HAL Artillery Laser. The same chassis mold was also utilized for the Japanese market release of the VAMP.

Additionally, components such as the rollbar, dashboard, and steering wheel share design similarities with those found on the Vamp Mark II and the Stinger vehicles.

Due to its international distribution, the G.I. Joe VAMP action figure vehicle saw various releases with differing packaging designs and languages across regions.

In 1983, Canada received a black recolored VAMP as part of the Sears Exclusive Cobra Combat Set - M.S.V.

Europe's 1984 release, known as the Action Force SAS Panther, featured a black and yellow color scheme.

Brazil's 1984 version was sold as the Jipe de Ataque by Estrela Toys.

Takara Toy Company distributed a boxed VAMP in Japan in 1986.
