The COBRA F.A.N.G. is a notable vintage G.I. Joe collectible vehicle, initially released in U.S. toy stores in 1983. This iconic Cobra attack helicopter was available for retail purchase in 1983, 1984, and 1985, prior to its discontinuation in 1986.
For collectors, the F.A.N.G. remained accessible via mail-away offers directly from Hasbro from 1986 through 1991.
Early production runs of the F.A.N.G. featured a landing skid with a flat bottom. Subsequent releases included a modified landing skid design with a raised center ridge on its underside.
In Europe, the vehicle was initially released as the Action Force S.A.S. Hawk, featuring a distinct recolor with yellow highlights and accompanied by the Blades driver.
It was later re-released in Europe as the F.A.N.G., utilizing different decals compared to the U.S. version.
In Brazil, Estrela Toys released the vehicle in 1984 as the Helicóptero De Ataque, dissociating it from the Cobra faction.
Takara introduced the F.A.N.G. to the Japanese market in 1986 under the name Cobra Gyro.
