Cobra H.I.S.S.: High Speed Sentry, from "G.I. Joe - G.I. Joe - 3.75"" collection, includes the following accessories:
The Cobra H.I.S.S. (High Speed Sentry) vehicle, a notable piece for any vintage G.I. Joe collection, initially debuted in U.S. retail stores in 1983 as a boxed set. This original release included the dedicated Cobra H.I.S.S. Driver action figure.
The vehicle remained available through 1984 and was subsequently discontinued from standard retail channels in 1985. Following its retail availability, the Cobra H.I.S.S. was offered directly from Hasbro via mail-away promotions, continuing its distribution from 1985 through 1991.
Collectors may identify three distinct versions of this action figure vehicle based on the "788" side stickers. Initial store releases featured clear "788" decals, while subsequent retail versions included red "788" stickers. Mail-in versions were equipped with white "788" stickers.
Due to international distribution, packaging designs and languages varied by region.
In Europe, during the early 1980s, the Cobra H.I.S.S. saw a recolored release as the Action Force Hyena Tank, presented in dark red and black, and bundled with the Red Jackal figure. A black version of the Hyena Tank was also released later.
In Brazil, it was distributed by Estrela under the name Super Canhão Laser.
Takara Toys also repackaged and sold the Cobra H.I.S.S. in Japan in 1986.
