Storage Shell turtles, after the 1988 originals, are the second model of figures of the main characters without any clothing, as they appeared in the animated series, in this case their shell opens and their weapons can be stored inside it. For many collectors, these models are their favorite of the classic turtles.
In 1994 a reedition of these figures was made with some minor modifications, the belt was changed to black and the weapons were made of a translucent color. These variants known as “Black Belt” are to this day the most sought-after variants among collectors and the true “Holy Grails” of the collection.
