The Thundercats line was distributed in many countries, so the Grune the Destroyer figure can be found in various blister packs, some featuring the "free Mumm-ra" promotion and others without. Like the rest of the Thundercats figures, this one comes with an "action feature" that, when a lever on its back is activated, moves its arms up and down.
Grune was a ThunderCat and the general in command of Thundera’s armies. His great-grandfather was the leader of the ThunderCats.
After many years of peace, Grune craved battle and power. He considered the Thunderians unworthy of serving the ThunderCats and sought to rule them as a god. Grune attempted a military coup, which was thwarted by the mighty Jaga. The two fought for hours, and Grune was ultimately defeated. Using the Sword of Omens, Jaga encased Grune in a crystalline pod and banished him into space. Grune arrived on the Third Planet, where he plundered and spread terror across the planet, earning himself the name Grune the Destroyer.
