The Thundercats line was distributed in many countries, so we can find the Lion-O figure in different blister packs. Like most Thundercats figures, this one comes with two "action features": the first involves pulling a lever on his back to move his arms up and down, and the second involves pressing the button on his back with the battery ring to make his eyes light up.
There are two known variants of this figure: one with red hair and accessories, and another with a more orange color scheme. Some figures were also released that included a Snarf figurine; this figurine was very simple and had no articulation, an issue they resolved the following year by releasing the Snarf figure separately as part of the "Companions" line.
Years later, a pack was released that included this figure along with an accessory. Thunder Wings Lion-o had a slight difference, as the figure did not include the "Action-feature"; the rear lever was removed so that the figure would fit better into the accessory, making this variant of the figure the most sought-after by collectors.
Lion-O is the leader and heir to the title of "Lord and Master of the Thundercats," and is modeled after a lion. He is also the bearer of the legendary Sword of Prophecy and the Claw, a set of very powerful weapons. He is a survivor of the explosion of the planet Thundera and traveled to the Third Planet to lead the rest of the Thunderians.
