R5-D4 figure was part of the second wave of figures (1978) of the Star Wars collection, during the following years several reeditions of the figure were made, so we can find it with different cardbacks.
The first edition of this second wave is known as “20-back”, since the back of the carton showed 20 figures, the 12 from the first wave and the 8 from the second wave. This edition included a promotion whereby by sending 4 proofs of purchase to KENNER, the toy company mailed the figure of Boba Fett.
Character
R5-D4 is a droid. Appears in “A New Hope” (Episode IV) when Luke Skywalker and his uncle Owen Lars are considering buying him out from the Jawa in the droid market on Tatooine. However, R5-D4 appears to be malfunctioning, allowing R2-D2 be selected instead.
