Playmates was in charge of creating and distributing the collection of Toxic Crusaders in 1991. At that time, TMNT, was the hit of the moment and they made the decision (very wise in my opinion) to make the Toxic Crusader in the same scale, manner and with very similar designs. So many people consider them a Knock-off of the Turtles.
The line of figures, like the series, was short, but as they say: “if it’s short, it’s twice as good”, so I think it was a great success on the part of Playmates.
