Curiosities about the toy and variants

The R2-D2 figure was part of the second wave of figures (1978) in the Star Wars collection; over the following years, several reissues of the figure were produced, so it can be found with different packaging.

The first edition of this second wave is known as the "20-back," since the back of the box featured 20 figures: the 12 from the first wave and the 8 from the second. This edition included a promotion where, upon sending 4 proofs of purchase to KENNER, the toy company would mail a Boba Fett figure.

Character

R5-D4 is a droid. He appears in "A New Hope" (Episode IV) when Luke Skywalker and his uncle Owen Lars consider buying him from the Jawas at the droid market on Tatooine. However, R5-D4 seems to be malfunctioning, leading to R2-D2 being chosen instead.
